“Better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times” - Asian Proverb

Around the World is a painting project that traces a path through cities across the globe. Since 2015, the series has been produced as a thirty day cycle each spring, with one new painting created each day and released online as part of a fundraiser supporting the 10x10 Photography Project.

Each work focuses on a different city, translating its geography into a system of colour, pattern, and structure. The compositions draw from cartographic perspectives while remaining loosely interpretive, allowing each location to become a kind of abstract portrait. Many of the paintings use palettes associated with travel and summer landscapes, echoing the experience of moving between places.

Taken together, the series forms an evolving visual itinerary. Rather than documenting cities literally, Around the World approaches them as impressions gathered through movement, memory, and curiosity, mapping how places accumulate meaning as we pass through them.
