YES, DEER

Yes Deer was an installation presented at the Window Gallery that introduced the first of four faux taxidermy textile deer sculptures that will appear in Doe & Deery at WKP Kennedy Gallery in September 2026.

The work takes the form of a deer figure constructed as a soft sculpture and displayed in the manner of a hunting trophy. Rather than hide or fur, the body is covered in deadstock textiles produced by Kaffe Fassett, whose vivid patterns replace the natural surface of the animal with an ornamental skin.

Presented in the public facing architecture of the gallery window, the sculpture introduced the visual language of the larger project: faux taxidermy forms, craft based fabrication, and hybrid bodies that echo the display conventions of hunting culture while subtly unsettling them.
